Horny goat weed gummies in short
- Gummies are rare in NIH's label database. One of 938 label records that list horny goat weed or epimedium is a gummy.
- Labels differ. The two gummy panels we could read in full work out at 50 mg and 5 mg of extract per gummy; the extracts are described differently, so the numbers do not compare.
- The search for a gummy study. A Europe PMC search on 7 October 2026 for epimedium, horny goat weed or icariin with gummy, gummies or chewable returned 1 record, a 2008 patent.
Maca appears beside it on 494 of those 938 records: what the research says about maca. The plant itself: the epimedium evidence guide.

What is in a horny goat weed gummy?
Horny goat weed is a common name for Epimedium plants; MSK lists three species: Epimedium sagittatum, E. grandiflorum and E. brevicornum. On the three labels we opened, the extract is one active among others, in a base of sugar or syrup and pectin where the other ingredients are shown.
- Label A (brand page; panel read from its image text): horny goat weed extract, selenium and black pepper extract.
- Label B (brand page; the panel is an image, so page text only): horny goat weed extract and maca extract.
- Label C (NIH database record 316104): horny goat weed extract with maca, ashwagandha, saw palmetto, L-arginine, tribulus and two vitamins.

Eight things to check on a horny goat weed gummy label
These checks are specific to horny goat weed. For the general points, see how to read a supplement label and a checklist for reading any gummy label.
Check
What to look for
What labels A, B and C show
1. Species
A named Epimedium species. MSK lists three.
A: Epimedium sagittatum. B (page text) and C: none stated.
2. Plant part
The part used, if stated.
A: aerial parts. B (page text) and C: none stated.
3. Extract ratio
10:1 means roughly 10 g of dried plant per 1 g of extract. A higher ratio is not a stronger extract.
C: 10:1, "Equivalent to 100mg horny goat weed". A and B (page text): none stated.
4. Icariin percentage
A percentage of icariin, if stated.
None of the three states one.
5. Amount or blend
Its own row with an amount, or only inside a blend with one total.
A: own row, 150 mg. B: 60 mg per serving (page text). C: own row, 10 mg.
6. Per gummy or per serving
Amounts are per serving. Divide by the gummies in a serving.
A: 150 mg over 3 gummies, 50 mg each. B: serving size not in the page text, so no per-gummy figure. C: 10 mg over 2, 5 mg of extract.
7. Base, other actives, sugar
Other rows add their own questions. Sugar lines are per serving.
A and C: sugar or syrup first, then pectin; 5 g added sugars a serving. A adds selenium and black pepper extract; C adds five plant or amino acid rows and two vitamins.
8. Batch testing and claims
An independent lab report shows what one batch held. A seal is not a report.
None of the three shows a report. C carries a testing seal; the A and B pages say nothing about testing.
A serving can be 2 or 3 gummies, so the sugar and calories on a panel are per serving, not per gummy. If you count sugar, read Total Sugars and Added Sugars per serving. A label number is the maker's statement, not a recommended amount.
What do the labels in NIH's database show?
NIH's Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD) holds supplement label records. A search for "horny goat weed" on 5 October 2026 found 938 records that list horny goat weed or epimedium, of which 537 are still on the market. Of those 537, 359 are capsules and 1 is a gummy.

Ingredient guides: what the research says, plant by plant
Maca root
50 mg per gummy on the label, plus a 4:1 extract in the blend. We read eight human trials and report what each measured.
Muira puama
A 6:1 extract in the 810 mg blend. The guide sets out what studies of the plant examined.
Epimedium (horny goat weed)
A 10:1 extract in the blend. The human trials we found looked at bone loss.
Ginger root
A 4:1 extract in the blend. Chili pepper is listed separately at 30 mg per gummy.
Good to know before you start
MSK lists sweating or feeling hot, a rapid irregular heartbeat, a rise in energy and mood changes as adverse reactions to epimedium, and says it should be avoided by people with heart disease or hormone-sensitive cancers. It names aromatase inhibitors and medicines broken down by CYP3A4, and says clinical relevance is not known. MSK's page has no pregnancy statement, and label C says to consult a physician if you are pregnant or nursing, under 18 or have a known medical condition. MSK also says more studies are needed and that scientific evidence to support use of epimedium is limited, and our search turned up no side-effect data for gummies. The full list, with interactions, is in the epimedium evidence guide.
FDA says many products sold for sexual health are likely to contain hidden ingredients that can be dangerous and can lead to severe health issues and hospitalization. FDA's guidance defines a hidden ingredient as one not listed on the product label. Its list of notifications includes products named as gummies (entries dated December 2024) and covers only a small fraction of the products on the market, so a product's absence from the list tells you nothing about it. Its warning signs include claims that seem too good to be true and many glowing user comments; marketing words such as "herbal" do not tell you what is inside, and FDA does not approve manufacturing facilities. This is about a product category, not about horny goat weed or any gummy that lists it, and a label cannot show a hidden ingredient. One of the December 2024 notices is covered in a checklist for reading any gummy label.
In short

Questions people ask about horny goat weed gummies
Are horny goat weed gummies safe?
Spicy Cubes gummies are for adults 18 and over, to be used as directed on the pouch. The points to raise with your doctor or pharmacist first are gathered in "Good to know before you start" above, and side effects of epimedium are listed in the epimedium evidence guide.
Do horny goat weed gummies work?
Spicy Cubes is a food supplement, so no medical claims are made for it. Every amount is printed on the label (chili pepper 30 mg, maca root 50 mg and an 810 mg blend of muira puama, epimedium, maca and ginger extracts per 3 g gummy) and a 30-day money-back guarantee covers your order. See the Spicy Cubes ingredients list.
How much horny goat weed is in a gummy?
Only the label can say, and only per serving. The two panels we read in full state 150 mg of extract per 3 gummies (50 mg each) and 10 mg of a 10:1 extract per 2 (5 mg each). In NIH's database, 240 of 537 on-market labels list the plant only inside a blend. For Spicy Cubes, each 3 g gummy lists epimedium extract (10:1) inside an 810 mg blend of four extracts.

What FDA says about hidden ingredients in this product category is in "Good to know before you start" above.
What does 10:1 mean on a gummy label?
Roughly 10 g of dried plant for 1 g of extract. It does not tell you the extract's strength, solvent or how much carrier was added, and a higher ratio is not a stronger extract. More in what 10:1 means on a label.
